1. Find all pages matching the keywords of the search.

2. Try to write long in-depth content instead of short pages.
3. Don’t over-optimize. Think about making your navigation readable, your text readable and include more keywords only if you think it is appropriate to your users. Write naturally and include related terms, synonyms etc.
4. Don’t be over-aggressive with link building.
5. Link out to other good sites/pages in your articles.
6. Cross-reference your content by putting links within your content to other pages on your site.

As any Google watcher knows, PageRank can jump from 0 to a 4 or 5 in just one Google update. That means getting into a directory that’s brand new (and probably very easy to get into) could pay off handsomely in a few months.

Also, as any professional SEO expert will tell you, the PageRank that’s displayed in the Google toolbar is probably inaccurate. PageRank updates don’t happen as frequently as shifts in the SERPs (search engine results pages). So never use PR as the sole indicator of the quality of a directory.

That said, remember that time is money - and it takes time to submit to directories. So in the beginning, focus on directories that will help you boost the quality of your backlinks. And, if you’re paying to get into a directory, it really ought to show at least some PageRank.

CHECK REVIEW PERIODS

Whether you’re submitting to paid or free directories, check the review periods. Free directories often have months-long wait times and even the paid directories can keep you waiting an unreasonably long time.

Again, to get the most value from your initial directory submissions, check the terms, and opt for those that promise shorter review periods.

GO FOR DIRECTORIES WITH LONGEVITY FIRST

If you want to maximize the odds that your listing will still exist months or even years later, go for older and well-established directories first. Older directories that have some traffic are more likely to still be up and operational in the future.

When choosing directories that are newcomers, remember that ANY directory, no matter how small or basic, can become popular. The problem is it can also easily vanish after a few months, just like any other new business.

So look for signs of future longevity when checking out a new directory. If it’s got a good design, good search capabilities, and seems to be showing some growth - however slow - then a new directory can be a free or low-cost way to get one more good, natural backlinks. Many new directories also have proactive editors who will review your listing and activate your placement a lot faster.

Since fresh directories are being added every day, make searching for new directories a part of your regular link strategy. Directories are an especially good way to get your first backlinks if your site is brand new. And, it’s a realtively simple process to perform.

Have you ever been to one of those websites that try to sell you targeted traffic. You know, the ones that say Buy Targeted Traffic and watch your sales sky rocket. Well, relax and sit back and continue reading, I can assure you, that there is a way to determine what traffic sources are right for you.

First let us address the issue of What is the difference between targeted traffic and just plain traffic? The difference really comes down to sales and signups. People who are visiting your site because they want what you have, are more likely to stay and buy than those who found you by chance. For example someone searching for ‘buy targeted traffic’ is going to be a more targeted visitor on a targeted traffic site than one who searched for say ‘traffic school’.

So the first lesson we learn about how to buy targeted traffic is to ensure that the packages come with categories that you can target and or specific countries that you can target. Only buy targeted traffic that is category and or country specific.

For example if you bought 20,000 visitors and you decided to cancel after 5,000 visitors had been delivered to your web site. Then you would get a refund on the remaining 15,000 visitors, not the full 20,000.

Fourthly, ensure they have testimonials, and read them. If others are happy about their services, then this is a good indication that you can buy targeted traffic from them that is genuine.

Fifthly, Check to see that they have contact details and a privacy policy. This usually separates the pros from the fly-by-nighters. Contact them using their email address. Ask them a question. Make sure they reply and that they answer your question professionally.
